Who is Athercare Designed For?
Athercare is designed for professional, college
and high school athletes, as well as men and women
who are concerned about keeping healthy and fit.
Athercare is also recognized and recommended by physicians
and athletic coaches for those individuals with rehabilitation
and performance training needs.
About Athercare Director and Founder
Dr.
Donald A. Chu, the Director and Founder of Athercare
Fitness and Rehabilitation facility, is a nationally
recognized specialist in Sports Medicine. He is the
author of six books, including "Jumping into
Plyometrics" now in its 2nd edition. Dr. Chu
has also written articles for preferred journals
and given lectures on Plyometrics and other topics
in Sports Medicine throughout virtually every state
and many foreign countries over the past decade.
Dr.
Chu has recreated the clinic that he successfully
operated for over twenty years (Ather Sports Injury
Clinic) into a brand new facility with the latest
technologies including: Low Level Laser, Automatic
Therapeutic Movement machines and Game Ready (devices
available for modality interventions); TRX systems,
Dartfish analysis, and Force plate evaluations have
all been added to compliment the solid foundation
of plyometric drills, Olympic lifting and Speed drills
that Dr. Chu is famous for implementing.
Athletes Currently Training Under Dr. Chu's
Recommended Programs
The most current list of athletes
training under Dr. Chu's recommended programs
are: Tennis players Paul Goldstein (ranked
as high as 58 in the world), Sam Warburg (Stanford
University), and Geoff Gurhke (Cal
Poly, SLO) are currently training with Athercare. Andre
Ward, undefeated professional
boxer and Gold Medal winner from the 2004 Athens
Olympic Games has now sought Athercare's training
programs designed for function and immediate success.
Oganna Numanni from the USA Women's
National Volleyball team has also sought Dr. Chu's
expertise in terms of training and injury care. Colin
Chin, Triple Jumper (UCSD) and 100m sprinter
Kyle Alston (Roosevelt high school of Fresno, CA),
as well as softball players Alissa
Haber (Stanford)
and Danielle Yee (Ohlone) are also
enjoying performance enhancing training. The
Santa Clara Aquamaids (12 time National Champions)
are still avid clients of Dr. Chu's training
methods and obviously continue to see benefits through
several generations.
